Sports Massage Therapy
Sports Massage is carried out at Peacocks by Deborah Washington at the St Thomas St shop in Newcastle.
Deborah holds an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and (Swedish) Massage, a SPS Sports Massage Diploma Award and is an Appointed First Aid Person. She is registered and insured member with the Sports Massage Association (SMA).
Deborah is also a qualified fitness and gym instructor and able to provide knowledge and advice on remedial exercise and stretching to provide a more effective, personally tailored, service.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage incorporates Swedish massage movements, together with additional intensive techniques that are specifically designed to prevent and treat sports injuries.
Swedish massage was developed in the 1700s by Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish physiologist and fencing master, and involves the use of gliding strokes, kneading movements, circular pressure of the hand and fingers, vibratory movements, brisk tapping and bending and stretching.
