Custom Orthoses and Footwear
Our purpose-built orthotic workshops are home to 55 orthotic technicians.
The team includes specialists in conventional and cosmetic orthoses, seating, fabric orthoses, specialist footwear, footwear adaptations and insoles. Through their passion for their profession these technicians ensure our products live up to the highest quality standards and delivery reliability. Our workshops produce orthoses and footwear to specific individual client requirements.
We manufacture for customers across the UK and work to specific agreed manufacturing standards each centres clinical preferences and working methods.

Conventional Orthoses
Our metal & leatherwork department consists of six technicians with a combined experience of over 120 years. They (along with all of our technicians) take great pride in the quality of their work, which offers the full range of Orthotic provision including our contracture correction devices, standing frames, swivel walkers, RGOs and Parawalkers.
Fabric Orthoses
Our fabric team specialise in custom made soft orthoses, including Lumbar-sacral supports, abdominal supports, gaiters and corset sections to other orthoses. The team also carries out complex upholstery work for specialist seating systems.
Inlays and Functional Foot Orthoses (FFOs)
Our Functional Foot Orthoses are made using the latest Optical scanning and computer-aided design technology. This allows us repeatability, precision in design, and a clear record of what has been provided.
All the foot orthoses are custom made to the scan, impression, cast or measures provided and we would welcome a discussion of your particular preferences and designs.
This team is also able to manufacture the full range using traditional methods, including rigid and semi-rigid foot-orthoses with a huge range of coverings, pads, in-fills and material combinations.
Cosmetic and Carbon Fibre Orthoses
Peacocks have a team of more than ten technicians who specialise in the design and manufacture of cosmetic orthoses in plastics, moulded leather and carbon fibre.
The team produce the full range of orthoses of this type including orthoses for upper and lower limb, spinal orthoses, and specialist seating.
Custom Footwear
Our footwear team of twenty includes three last makers and three upper makers, with considerable skill and understanding of patient and Orthotist requirements. We supply over two thousand pairs of custom made footwear per annum to exacting standards, together with fast and reliable lead times.
Our experienced last makers, upper makers and shoe makers have an excellent knowledge of footwear and experience with working with Orthotists to accommodate a wide range of complex foot conditions.
We also provide custom made safety footwear and adaptations to safety footwear which are certified to EN ISO 20345-2004 at a compression of 15,000 N and an impact of 200 Joules. This footwear complies with the European Personal Protective Equipment Directive 89/686/EEC.
Footwear Repairs and Adaptations
We have a large and experienced team of footwear technicians in the area of specialist footwear adaptations such as biomechanical correction, rockers, supportive strapping and accommodation of orthoses.
